Robert Moog

Some say Moog was the East Coast inventor of the analog synthesizer.

Other folks say it was Don Buchla on the West Coast.

From what I could tell by meeting both of them, the were inventing it pretty much at the same time, but on different coasts.  Moog was more business orientated which would explain his higher profile (oh, and then along came “Switched On Bach”).  Buchla was in Berkeley California, and they did things a little differently in Berkeley in the 1960’s compared to New York, that’s for sure.
